Our Story

SÕLIDA was created by our CEO and COO, Brandon Rainey and Lawrence Driver after a trip to Miami. While sitting in a bar enjoying some amazing blues sung in Cuban Spanish, the two were offered tequila shots as part of the happy hour special. Like most, they were hesitant because of tequila’s reputation of having a lot of “burn,” causing upset stomachs, headaches and hangovers. The bartender understood and assured them that he had some “high end” tequilas that wouldn’t cause those problems and that they would love them…and he was right.

The Sõlida Journey

After returning home, they tried to find the tequilas they enjoyed in Miami to no avail. Several months went by and one of the brands they tried became available at a local liquor store. They were savoring the prized bottle of tequila one evening when Lawrence said it was, “…too bad we can’t make our own, a smooth, sipping tequila that everyone would enjoy.” Brandon’s reply was, “why not?” That began the lengthy process of finding a craft distiller, customizing the formula, coming up with the name and logo, designing the package and finally, bringing it to the market.

Later, Todd Walsh and Kendrick “Smurf” Westbrook, joined the leadership team as co-owners. Their invaluable experience and input perfectly complemented the skills of Brandon and Lawrence. These additions completed the SÕLIDA leadership team giving them more than 70 years combined experience in supply chain, operations, human resources and entrepreneurship. More importantly, they have all been close friends for almost 20 years.
